On a recent broadcast of GBH News, I had the privilege of joining host Edgar B. Herwick III and reporter Craig LeMoult to discuss the deeply personal origins and ongoing mission of Adam’s Parachute. The conversation offered a heartfelt space to talk about my son, Adam, his endless compassion, and how his legacy continues to serve as a lifeline to others. We explored the unique, restorative power of fly fishing for those navigating recovery from substance use, focusing on how stepping into the river helps us anchor ourselves in the present moment—letting go of the past downstream and leaving the anxiety of the future upstream. It was a meaningful discussion that highlighted the healing beauty of nature, the strength found in community, and the quiet grace of helping one another find our footing again.
